Recently, a sweet friend of mine's baby Augustus (Gus) decided he couldn't wait any longer to meet his mama and was born early at only 3.5 pounds.
As I saw her updates following his arrival, it occurred to me that it might be tough to find preemie clothes in his size. I reached out to her to offer to size down some of the preemie patterns I have so that she could have some outfits for him that would fit him well.
After chatting with her and doing some exploring into the preemie-friendly sewing world, I decided to put a plan together to be able to donate preemie and micro-preemie sized outfits to other families during their stay in our local NICU to help them feel extra cared for and loved.
The Gus Gown is available for babies from 3-4lbs up to 12 months.
The gown features plastic snaps up the front middle for easy diaper changes (and access to monitors/tubes/wires for NICU babies), and has the option of being converted into separate legs for crawlers or car seat rides.
